Synthesis is a science-meets-design magazine launched in March 2022. Written, curated and designed by students and staff at the University of Technology Sydney, the publication features a number of articles which explore a variety of social issues, scientific advancements and a guide on collaboration between scientists and designers.

As the designer on the team my role was to typeset, illustrate and layout the content of the publication. The colour palette and visual language speaks to the futuristic and somewhat whimsical nature of synthetic biology while still being accessible to both designers and scientists working within this context. I also played a role in writing the content for Synthesis, co-authoring the articles Scents from this land: Learnings from Australia’s first biotechnologists and A guide to successful collaboration.
