Rouse Hill Estate
This project uses wayfinding and experiential design to communicate the stories of Rouse Hill Estate, a historic property owned by Sydney Living Museums. My response comprises a combination of signage and flashcards aiming to tell the story of the continuous occupation of the site, from pre-colonial Indigenous occupation to current day.
Through illustrated visual prompts and clear typography, the project aims to actively engage a young audience, allowing them to understand the complex history of Rouse Hill Estate. Upon arrival at the site visitors would be given a checklist and asked to explore the gardens. At each sign they are able to collect a flashcard that corresponds to the story on the sign, being left with a collection of flashcards to take home. When arranged in the correct order the back of the cards show an illustrated timeline of land occupation at the estate.
